Hi and welcome, I'm Chris, and as you can see I like rocks, all kinds of rocks. I started doing this in 2007 just to try it out and it just clicked. I believe that rocks, all rocks, are beautiful not just the gemstones like emeralds, rubies, sapphires and so on. Wire wrapping started by watching someone do it, took a class and did a lot of practicing. My wire wrapping is different and unique, it can be simple to ornate.
The cabochons you see are not polished in a tumbler, they are done, one at a time on a polisher with 6 different polishing wheels from rough to fine. At any time a scratch can form and you have to start all over, even at the end you can get a scratch.
A cabochon is a smooth domed stone or gem, polished but not faceted.
For more information on this, please see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cabochon
There are 2 types of cabochons:
free form cabochon that works with the shape of the stone
templated cabochon that works with jewelry settings
